McHenry Hohnen Cellar Door

I love visiting this winery as they are unpretentious in their approach to wine and are eager to help people learn about their varieties and how their bio dynamic style helps reduce water consumption by 50% while still producing equal or better wines as the vines have to grow longer and search harder for water. Like the old world vines.

Initially, the experience was pretty good coming into the cellar. Steve, who was serving, seemed pretty enthused. I wanted to buy just a few bottles but Steve convinced me to join the Wine Club to save 20% as there was a promotion at that time. I signed up, and left my credit card details with them to charge. However, soon after, I got a credit card charge and invoice from them charging me the FULL price for the six bottle I purchased. Adding insult to injury, they also charged me delivery even though I collected the bottles at their cellar. I have since sent several emails and tried their Facebook site but it has been radio silence. Despite the fancy website, it seems like the service seems non-existence. Considering that I could have spent my money at the other numerous wineries around, this behaviour was a major disappointment. Buyers beware…

I really enjoyed the experience at McHenry Hohnen. Good wine and knowledgeable staff. Even though it was busy, I felt as though I was getting individual service.

Definitely worth visiting. Wines range from “pleasant for a party” to very , very good. Broad diversity of styles from salty natural ( apparently an acquired taste and certain en vogue currently), to outstanding Marianne Roussanne, Cab Sauvignon, and BDX, an innovative delicious blend. Good presentation, friendly and welcoming. Reasonably priced products.

A wonderful off the beaten track winery, this was our every first experience at wine tasting and couldn't have had a better start! The wine, food, people and place were all just perfect.

Small and unpretentious tasting room, but great wines and friendly/helpful staff. Definitely worth a stop!

When we entered the cellar door in Witchcliffe we were greeted by Chantal. She was really welcoming and had great knowledge of the McHenry Hohnen history, wines, and the region as a whole. She also had to put up with us changing our minds 20-30 times (super frustrating from someone that's worked in hospo) so for this I thank her for her patience.Great all around experience and would recommend a visit here to anyone visiting Margaret river.As for a wine favourite the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is hard to go past and I ended up ordering 2 bottles
